A Good American web site has been put together by Brian Chiko - www.schizophrenia.com  It has an associated search engine which checks out about 175 of the top web sites that are focused on Schizophrenia, medications, journals, support agencies, psychiatry, etc. One search will now check all those sites, which should save time and energy. There is also a free periodic newsletter from this site called Schizophrenia Update, which appears to take a fairly balanced view of issues. To subscribe, send an e-mail note to

Reach out!, is the world's first internet-based youth suicide prevention service. No it's not American: this Australian site was launched in April 1998 as a "whole community" approach to addressing Australia's high rate of youth suicide and attempted suicide. With sections for young people, families and friends, and professionals, it can be found at www.reachout.asn.au

The National Foundation for Depressive illness -
www.depression.org - is an American site aimed at public education, with information on the biochemical nature of depression, treatment options, and impact on people and society. Another U.S. organisation, the National Depressive and Manic Depressive Association is on www.ndmda.org

The Doctor's Guide to Schizophrenia Information and Resources received a good rating from internet users. It contains the latest medical news and information for consumers, friends families and carers affected by schizophrenia or related disorders. A comprehensive site.
